In Colombia, the municipalities of Soacha (Cundinamarca) and La Ceja (Antioquia) are experiencing accelerated growth in their urban areas, as they function as satellite municipalities of the country’s two main metropolises, Bogotá and Medellín. Both municipalities face serious challenges in terms of air quality, adaptation to extreme weather events, and ecosystem degradation. In order to strengthen climate resilience in these cities, the IKI Small Grants project “Nature-based solutions for urban resilience in Colombia” was developed, led by the Grupo HTM Foundation (Habitat, Territory and Environment). The project aimed to implement a series of steps to design, manage, implement, and monitor SBN in these locations. As a result, this publication was produced, which documents the process and some lessons learned. In parallel, the project built capacity among a diverse audience of people throughout Colombia and other Spanish-speaking countries, such as El Salvador, Spain and Peru, through a webinar, which can be accessed through the YouTube platform at this link: https://tinyurl.com/ye2xceyb.
