Project description:

The ecosystems of the Orinoco highlands in Colombia are vital for the prosperity and economic development of the region due to their biological and cultural richness. The Tonina project raises awareness of this among the local population, carries out training processes, generates conservation agreements, promotes spaces for dialogue and works together with private companies and state entities to ensure that biodiversity and ecosystem services are considered in departmental and municipal development plans in Meta and Vichada. It also generates participatory monitoring systems that record the state of biodiversity and the effects of ecosystem conservation processes on it.
