Learn more about the IKI Interface in Colombia

The International Climate Initiative’s (IKI) diverse portfolio in Colombia operates at bilateral, regional and global levels, aligning closely with the country’s priorities and challenges in the areas of mitigation, adaptation, biodiversity and carbon sinks. IKI projects provide support to the Colombian government in key areas such as NDC implementation, development of environmental finance mechanisms, protection of ecosystems and coastal zones, just energy transition, sustainable agricultural actions and low-carbon transportation. In this way, they contribute significantly to Colombia’s achievement of climate and environmental goals.

Within the framework of IKI’s knowledge management strategy, a special mandate has been assigned to one project in each priority country: to foster exchange and create synergies between IKI projects, as well as maintain close communication with the German government. In Colombia, this role is carried out by the IKI Interface project “Supporting Colombia in implementing its climate, energy and biodiversity goals” implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.


In addition to its role as an Interface project, the project supports Colombia in implementing its climate goals, with actions in mitigation, adaptation, just energy transition, and biodiversity conservation.
