Between September 11 and 12, 2024, the LAC H2 Summit Cartagena 2024 was held. The main objective of this important event was to promote business development in the hydrogen sector, bringing together the main players of the global industry. The meeting sought to take advantage of the great potential of Latin America and the Caribbean in this field.

In the Colombian case, the development of hydrogen projects is closely linked to economic diversification initiatives that promote new employment and income opportunities in the region, translated into tangible benefits for the communities.

In La Guajira, one of the most relevant initiatives is the one being developed by Hilo Sagrado. Thanks to the support of the IKI Just Energy Transition (JET) project, Hilo Sagrado had the opportunity to participate in the LAC H2 Summit with its own stand. Through this platform, it was able to demonstrate how the sale of handicrafts contributes to promoting food security in Wayuu communities, supporting economic diversification and fostering social acceptance, key to the success of future hydrogen projects in La Guajira.

In addition, the sale of its products has served as a way to promote the benefits of the work between international cooperation and the communities, thus facilitating the processes of dialogue and social acceptance locally.

Hilo Sagrado has become a local example of how to diversify the economy in La Guajira. This is a strategy that the IKI JET project seeks to promote through the energy communities. In addition, this participation in the LAC H2 Summit will provide Hilo Sagrado with an excellent opportunity to expand its network of contacts and attract new client
