On February 12th, the High-Level Climate Dialogue between the Government of Colombia and the European Union took place. At the initiative of the EuroClima programme, co-financed by Germany and the European Union, a dialogue was held in Bogotá in which more than 100 key actors from government and international cooperation reflected on the relationship between the climate and biodiversity agendas. This space included presentations on the progress and challenges faced by the European Union and Colombia in updating their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Colombia’s National Biodiversity Action Plan (NBSAP) presented at COP16, and its articulation with the NDCs, as well as the financing of the implementation of both mechanisms (NDCs and NBSAPs).
“Germany and European Union cooperation projects in Colombia play a very important role. From Germany, we support the updating of the National Biodiversity Action Plan and the Nationally Determined Contributions through workshops with the communities, which ensure that their perspectives are included in these processes.” Leonard Maue, Climate Officer at the German Embassy in Colombia.
In the afternoon, work was carried out in thematic groups to compile recommendations focused on the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions, in articulation with the National Biodiversity Action Plan.
