German cooperation promotes children’s participation in climate and biodiversity issues

Through the IKI Cafecito format, the International Climate Initiative (IKI) Interface project facilitates the exchange and dissemination of experiences and lessons learned among IKI projects in Colombia. On August 25th, the IKI Cafecito “Voices that transform: children facing climate and biodiversity” was held in Bogota.

One of its objectives was to make visible the role of children and youth in the updating of the NDC 3.0 (Nationally Determined Contribution) and the implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan. The German Embassy in Colombia, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, Save the Children, Fondo Acción, UNICEF, as well as children from several Colombian departments participated in this meeting.

Among the reflections of the space, the importance of the articulation between institutions to promote goals, actions and commitments that involve children and young people in the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and climate action was mentioned.
