High-level political dialogue on just energy transition

With the aim of advancing the implementation of just energy transition strategies – JET in Latin America, a high-level political dialogue on Just Energy Transition in the Coal Regions of Latin America was held on July 23rd in Bogota, within the framework of the Energy Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States – CELAC.

Representatives of the Colombian government, international cooperation entities, financial institutions, the private sector and civil society participated in this dialogue to discuss routes towards a fair, inclusive and territorially sensitive energy transition. The dialogue was organized by the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy and the IKI JET project, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and the European Union and implemented by the German Development Cooperation – GIZ.

The conclusions highlighted the need to strengthen coordinated political schemes, as well as to advance in the development of regional interconnection infrastructure, and in the implementation of programs focused on the socio-economic transformation of coal-dependent territories.
