SPAR6C and GGGI lead exchange with Article 6 implementing countries in Bogota to boost climate action

In September 2025, Bogota was the setting for the Third Annual Meeting of the Community of Practice for Article 6 Implementing Countries (CoP-ASIC), led by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) under the SPAR6C program, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action – BMWK through the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The meeting brought together 86 representatives from seven countries, consolidating Colombia as the epicenter of international dialogue on climate cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Delegations from Thailand, Pakistan, Zambia, Paraguay, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia shared experiences and progress towards the implementation of fair and transparent carbon markets. Under the theme “Pathways to Action“, the event highlighted pilot projects from these countries in energy and waste management, new national regulations and digital tools that drive climate action with integrity and cooperation at a global level.

The event also included the presentation of the Research Mentoring Program (RMP), where 15 graduate students addressed topics such as climate finance, governance and social inclusion. This initiative promotes the training of a new generation of climate leaders and strengthens the links between science, policy and international cooperation to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.
