Boosting energy communities as the backbone of a just energy transition in Colombia

Just Transition in Colombia: Supporting energy communities in La Guajira and Cesar

This video shows the work being done by the IKI JET project, supporting the development of energy communities as a tool for economic diversification and local development to promote livelihoods in the coal-dependent regions of La Guajira and Cesar.

In particular, there is evidence of training and support to communities for the productive use of energy, the strengthening of local capacities and the promotion of economic initiatives linked to a just energy transition. The video also highlights the participatory approach of the project, which articulates community, institutional and international cooperation actors, seeking that communities not only have access to clean energy, but also become protagonists of new economic opportunities, income generation and construction of social fabric in territories undergoing a post-coal transformation process.
