Land-use change has caused 90% of global deforestation over the past three decades, with South America among the most affected regions due to agricultural expansion. Since May, the regional initiative “Compliance with EU Regulation with a Landscape Impact” has been under development, involving Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, and Peru. The project aims that, by 2030, agricultural supply chains become more compatible with the EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR), strengthening technical capacities in sustainable production, landscape restoration, and climate resilience.
