On June 3, 2025, the 6th edition of the IKI Colombia Interface Workshop was held at the Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, a strategic space that brought together 32 projects of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) with representatives from Colombia’s partner ministries and Germany’s IKI ministries to strengthen climate action, biodiversity protection and the country’s energy transition. This event marked the official opening of the First Climate and Just Energy Transition Partnership Week, consolidating as a milestone in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

A strategic meeting for territorial transformation

The event was attended by Lena Yanina Estrada Añokazi, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development (MinAmbiente), and Martina Klumpp, German Ambassador to Colombia, who officially opened this week of climate cooperation.

During the session, there was a strategic exchange on governmental priorities on climate, biodiversity and energy transition, as well as a dialogue between IKI Germany and the implementing organizations of IKI projects in Colombia, focused on translating the IKI 2030 strategy to the territorial reality of the country.

There was also an interactive session where IKI projects shared their experiences, strengthened their networks and explored new opportunities for collaboration. The closing of the workshop featured three side events on community monitoring, an NDC lab, and just energy transition, ideal spaces for updating knowledge and creating synergies that drive the IKI projects forward.

Outstanding results

The IKI Colombia 2025 Annual Interface Workshop succeeded in connecting 32 projects of the International Climate Initiative with counterparts in Colombia and Germany, thus strengthening 26 implementing organizations and generating new opportunities for collaboration for the transformation of Colombian territories.

The First Climate and Just Energy Transition Partnership Week, which took place June 3-6, represented a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Colombia and Germany on environmental and energy issues, consolidating the joint commitment to a more sustainable future for both countries.
