Espavé: Biodiversity and Culture in Turbaco

This publication was created with the objective of strengthening the link between the educational communities of Turbaco and the nature that surrounds them. Its purpose is to help teachers and students recognize local biodiversity, understand its importance and learn how to take care of it through daily and collective actions. It seeks to awaken curiosity, promote observation of the environment and motivate critical thinking and responsible action regarding the tropical dry forest. The Botanical Garden of Cartagena “Guillermo Piñeres”, with the support of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) through the IKI Small Grants program, develops this material in the framework of the project “Empowering young leaders and their actions for the conservation of the tropical dry forest”.

This publication seeks to strengthen environmental leadership among young people living in the territory, encouraging the participation of schools in conservation and the promotion of joint work between families, institutions and the community in general, to protect the biodiversity of the Colombian Caribbean.
