During 2024, 5 subnational workshops were held as part of the NDC 3.0 update process. The workshops took place in Medellín and Bogotá (August 2024), Barranquilla (September 2024), Yopal (October 2024), and Cali (November 2024) and were attended by 350 people from the subnational level (governors, mayors, environmental authorities, among others). The main objective of these workshops, led by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, was to increase the climate ambition of cities, departments, and companies in Colombian territory by identifying adaptation, mitigation, and implementation means measures led by territorial entities and leading private sector companies in the regions.
In these 5 workshops, capacity-building for climate action was strengthened by leading actors from the Regional Climate Change Nodes of Antioquia, North Pacific, Amazon, North Andean, Central Andean East, Caribbean and Insular, Orinoquía, and Pacific, and 34 potential measures were identified in adaptation, mitigation, and implementation means for updating Colombia’s NDC.
