The CERFER Training Center for Renewable Energies is moving forward

The Training Center for Renewable Energy (CERFER) is an initiative that was born out of a partnership between Colombia and Germany. It involves the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the Colombo-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) and the German Energy Agency (DENA) funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), to train the specialised talent that will drive the energy transformation in the region.

Some of CERFER’s milestones include the following:

  • Training of approximately 1500 people in renewable energy, through partnerships with institutions such as the Siemens Foundation, Colibri Energy, the Center for Science and Environmental Awareness – Exposolar, World Energy Council of Colombia, the Colombian Hydrogen Association, the University of La Salle, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ecopetrol and the Peace and Reconciliation Foundation.
  • Highlights such as the Wayúu Dialogue in Nazareth, (La Guajira), the Women’s Summit for Climate Justice, the first Communities Summit for Just Energy Transition and Peace, Connecting Energies: a Colombo-German dialogue between renewable energy associations, and the participation in 2024 in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD).

This centre connects Colombian talent with German experience in renewable energies, understanding that local communities are protagonists and that it is essential to create a human ecosystem that makes a more equitable future possible for Colombia.
