Project description:

Colombia, despite being a country with a great diversity of species, faces great socio-environmental challenges. In fact, it is one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change (such as floods and droughts). This is because unsustainable territorial development models cause the loss of ecosystems.

The SolNatura project aims to build local capacities and experiences to promote the application of Nature-based Solutions (NBS) related to the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). Focusing the implementation in the departments of Córdoba, Huila and Santander.

The project not only applies a broad participatory approach involving local stakeholders in implementation and knowledge sharing, but also develops innovative financial instruments for the implementation of these SbNs, improves regional framework conditions for territorial development models, strengthens national M&E/MRV systems, and documents evidence for national policy advice.

Implementation status/results:

The SolNatura+ funding mechanism will support local projects focused on promoting measures to increase employment and income.
