Together with the National Planning Department and through the project “Support for the review and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-RI)”, funded by the German Ministry of Environment – BMUKN and implemented by GIZ, the First Bioeconomy Networking Roundtable was held on October 9th in Bogota. Through 127 bilateral meetings, 28 funders and 27 projects were connected to identify potential support and funding opportunities. This roundtable aimed to optimize networking opportunities and accelerate access to funding for bioeconomy development in Colombia and identified 89 funding opportunities with a potential value of $494.85 billion Colombian pesos (approx. USD $115 million).
The event was opened by Carolina Díaz Giraldo, Director of Environment and Sustainable Development of the National Planning Department, who highlighted the support and trust of the German government for this initiative. On the other hand, Janina Heim, Environmental Counselor of the German Embassy in Colombia, mentioned the importance of building a bioeconomy that is socially just and ecologically sustainable.
