IKI SPAR6C Colombia extends until December 19, 2025 the call for the Research Mentoring Program (RPM), an initiative that offers mentoring, internships and professional incorporation to graduate students interested in carbon markets and international cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Aimed at master’s and doctoral students from Colombian universities, this program, implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), seeks to train Colombia’s future climate leaders.
Since 2024, the RMP has inspired young researchers with unique learning and action opportunities. In September 2025, the program was presented during the Third Annual Meeting of the Community of Practice of Article 6 Implementing Countries (CoP-ASIC), held in Bogota. This event reaffirmed Colombia’s role as a key point in the international climate dialogue.
Among its benefits, the Research Mentoring Program offers:
- One-on-one consulting with international experts.
- Six-month funded internships in public, private or academic sector entities.
- Participation in national and international events of the SPAR6C program.
- Access to the CoP-ASIC community of practice, to exchange knowledge between academia, policy and climate action.
- Support for aligning research with national mitigation priorities.
Brian Guerrero, a student in the 2025 program, highlights how the experience strengthened his career in carbon markets and brought him closer to international decision-making spaces.
