During the first days of December 2025, the intergovernmental consultations between Colombia and Germany were held in the city of Bogotá, a key space for bilateral dialogue aimed at evaluating the progress and strategic priorities of cooperation between the two countries. The agreements reached during these meetings are the inputs for the construction of the roadmap to be defined in the intergovernmental negotiations of 2026, with which German cooperation in Colombia will focus its actions during the next period.
The consultations were led by the Director of International Cooperation of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Laura Patricia García Mejía, and by the Deputy Director of the South America Division of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development – BMZ, Florian Lewerenz, who undertook the technical and political discussions, seeking to consolidate a shared vision on the objectives, approaches and priority areas of the work of this cooperation, which has been working in the country for more than 50 years.
As part of the preparatory process for these consultations, spaces for conversation and coordination were developed between representatives of the Federal Government of Germany and various partners in the departments of Caquetá, Valle del Cauca and Nariño. These meetings provided first-hand knowledge of the progress, challenges and needs present in these departments, as well as to ensure that the decisions taken respond to the realities and dynamics of each territory.
