On April 14, the co-presidency of this body was transferred from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy – BMWE (Germany) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (Colombia) to the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety – BMUKN (Germany) and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (Colombia).
The work plans of the thematic groups on just energy transition; climate protection; protection and sustainable use of biodiversity and the environment; climate and biodiversity financing; and sustainable and resilient urban development were approved.
Some key issues for this new period of the Partnership are:
- Continuity and deepening of climate action
- Strengthening the climate-biodiversity nexus
- Strong support for activities related to a just energy transition
- Relations with the private sector
The committee was attended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Planning Department, the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation and the Ministries of Energy, Environment, Transport and Housing, as well as the German Embassy in Colombia, the German Development Bank – KfW and the German Development Cooperation – GIZ. Representatives of the BMWE, BMUKN and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) also made virtual interventions.
